Did you know that you can have homemade butter in less than 10 minutes? And you don’t even have to stand and do nothing for that 10 minutes!
Yes, it’s true! Homemade butter in less than 10 minutes and only 2 ingredients.
Here’s what you need –
Heavy cream (I used a pint)
Food processor or blender (I used a food processor)
Pour the heavy cream into your food processor or blender, put the lid on and turn it on.
After about 2 minutes, you will have whipped cream –
As it thickens, it will look like ricotta cheese (after about 5 minutes). At this point, if you would like, add a little salt.
About 7-8 minutes in, it begins to separate and you will have butter milk appearing. When it looks like this, it’s finished!
In order to drain off the butter milk, I put a strainer over a bowl and drain.
After it’s drained for a few minutes, put butter into a container.
You’ll notice that I had about 3/4 cups of butter milk when all was said and done. DON’T toss this out! Seriously — it’s great to use as a liquid in muffins, bread, biscuits, corn bread, etc. Butter milk adds an amazing “zing” of flavor so don’t waste it!
